Classes at Yellow Rose Fiber on the Coast 2026

THESE CLASSES WILL BE AT YELLOW ROSE FIBER ON THE COAST ONLY (FEBRUARY 5th-7th, 2026).

EEW 6.1 Spinning Class (Thursday 6pm-8pm) - Are you ready to dive into the world of spinning fiber? Or have you tried spinning, but found it to be difficult or unrewarding? Try out the Electric Eel Wheel (EEW) 6.1 from Dreaming Robots and it will be the spinning wheel for you! Katy will be hosting a hands-on workshop that will cover the basics of learning to spin fiber into yarn with the Electric Eel Wheel (EEW) 6.1. This portable, affordable, and efficient wheel will make you fall in love with spinning or rekindle your love of the hobby. At just five pounds including a battery, you can take the EEW 6.1 anywhere you can go. With more than a decade of refinement from Dreaming Robots founder and designer Maurice Ribble, the EEW 6.1 can do almost anything traditional wheels can do, at a fraction of the cost. Participants will be able to use the EEW 6.1, and get real-time feedback on technique. In no-time you will see the value of a wheel that can travel with you in a medium sized project bag, and yet be powerful and versatile enough to work for beginner spinners and experts alike.  If you decide to purchase a wheel at the end of the class, then the $30 for the class will go toward the wheel purchase.

Sweater Math (Friday 2pm-4pm) - All it takes is a little planning and a little math to help make your sweaters fit perfectly. In this class we go over the basic formulas you can use to make any sweater fit. We will also discuss choosing a sweater pattern, fiber content choices, and how they influence your fit.

Mending as Art (Friday 5:30pm-7:30pm) - This 2 hour class will teach you how to embellish your garments with embroidery using yarn. We will cover basic stitches to reinforce your fabrics and spend some time creating art! Students should bring anything they want to embroider with yarn and any specific scrap yarn they would like to use (I will have yarn available for you to use as well).

Adventures in Fiber and Yarn (Saturday 10am-12pm) - Learn all about the basic properties of yarn and fiber in this lecture style class from Katy of Yarn Adventure Truck. Depending on the project you choose, the purpose of your garment, or your personal tastes, choosing the right yarn or fiber can be critical to your success. You will learn about many qualities of yarn and fiber, including weight, spin, ply, memory, staple length, micron count, and many more!
